post 2

hi cathy, jann, kathleen and sa, how are you all doing? i hope devos are going good and that you're all hanging in there with school and doing well spiritually and with relationships! : )

i've had an eventful/excellent week that i'd like to share!

during last friday's cell group, i finally got to interact and learn everybody's name ('cause i kept missing cell group nights). i also had an awesome talk/prayer time with Pearl (my CGL) before the game of sardines in biosci and the sleepover at Cathy's. in which btw, i still find it really funny when we were watching 7-22, how Cathy pointed out to me that everyone fell asleep - and kathleen was sitting on a ball! we then had brunch; went to the disappointing but entertaining Christmas parade; meteor shower "gazing" (it was too cloudy to catch any) and then met up with other people to skip rocks at 1:30a.m.

then comes sunday night! about 10 of us froshes met up for the first '10 fellowship. i was debating rather or not i should go all night, especially when 0/6 people that i asked could go, so i was doubting if anyone was even going to show up. to be quite honest i was wondering if they even had anything planned, i was picturing about 5 of us sitting in a circle, being awkward and trying to plan for another '10 meeting. maybe i'm just a negative person, but so i ended up going, and the second i stepped into the room i was impressed by the welcoming powerpoint on the screen. clemence led an icebreaker game. christopher ng brought his guitar &got his laptop all hooked up &had lyrics slides for worship. we started and ended everything with prayers, had sharing in a circle and everyone actually opened up to share about their struggles and gratitudes and we prayed for each person after they've shared. it was really nice to have other froshes share about their experiences and challenges and how God has blessed them/work in them at Queen's so far. we've also came up with some future ideas for the fellowship and how to keep it going and such. i am so excited for these plans, i will share them with you when we talk :D

another praise report, is how God has blessed me with all these opportunities to share my faith. though i am really unprepared (but that's another story), God is definitely doing His work..somehow, Jesus style! yea..about two hours ago, one of my floormates just randomly picked up my bible and asked if she can read the Revelations to me. to be honest, i've had a long day, i had class pretty much all day and i didn't get back to rez from the library till 10, i was eating my frozen dinner and i was brain-dead. but i told her to go for it. so she started reading, and while i'm messing with my dinner i came to realize how i should really be taking advantage of this opportunity of sharing. so i gave it a shot and gave more attention as she kept reading. then i took out my other bible and we read together and tried to interpret some of the stuff. we read 5 chapters together. my floormate read 10. she said we should continue tomorrow and we should have bible studies. in my head i was just in awe with how God works.

mmm to wrap up, i'm just really thankful for all the good&bad experiences at Queen's so far because my God has never cease to amaze me with just, everything. and i want to thank you girls for being a part of it..i am so thankful for you all.

before i depart you with this (o boy, what a long) post (thanks for reading!), i've got a prayer request: i've got two papers and an assignment due next week and they pretty much determines rather i pass or fail in two of my courses. stupid me only gave myself one week to cram so i'm a little scared, i also half flunked my last paper so i'm kind of on the edge. my weekend is also taken up with two manditory concerts/rehearsals for choir so my time is a little limited. anyway, i hope you're not cramming like me heh. yes ok i'm done haha i shall leave you with this..i don't know what i'm doing up..

take care and talk soon,
vinci

p.s. jann: got your email..i was actually going to surprise my friend for her birthday too, but it didn't work out in the end..but aw well it seems like you had a very exciting weekend, do tell us about it next time we meet!

get-together, take 2

sorry for not making thursday lunch a reality, girls! i had only an okay week, even if there were no midterms or big things due. i'm doubting my usefulness in my commitments again. there's just not enough time for everyone. please pray for patience, to wait upon God's timing to see the work that He has always been doing, unseen though it may be.

i had a great weekend at home though! downtown toronto & the u of t campus make me happy. and thanks to cathy for recommending the crux discount theological bookstore on campus!

let's try for this friday -- dinner? we can cook together or something! :)

thursday lunch?

hey gurlies!

how are you all? i hope your week's are going fabulously! just wondering if you were all up for lunch together tomorrow, on thursday? we discussed it last sunday at our last PAD meeting cuz both me and eleasa will be gone this weekend. the rest of you can still meet up on sunday, but we thought it'd be nice to have a little lunch all together this week. so i think eleasa, vinci and me all had a lunch break at 12:30-1:30 and we could meet up somewhere on campus if you would like? if that time doesn't work with the rest, we could maybe try for another time. please respond... as thursday is fast approaching! thanx! have a good day!

luv,
kathleen :p

prayer power needed!

i had a hard time sleeping last night because i had a lot on my mind. mostly about cell group members, and in particular, vinci & joyce, my 2 housemates who are also in my cell group too. i am finding it especially hard to find time to hang out with them, open up to them & do some deeper sharing. it especially hurts when i find out that one of them actually had a difficult time a couple days ago, & she turned to some other people to ask for prayer, & i didn't even have any idea. especially with midterms lately, i've had a lot of other things on my mind. i keep saying: "after midterms, i'll do something with them." so please pray that i'll come through on this promise. as well as with the other girls in my cell group that i'm taking care of -- both michelles, emmy, brenda, janice, & alicia.

how are your midterms going, girls? feel free to list them here & then we can all pray for you on that day! i have immunology at 5:30-6:30pm today & biochem on thurs. 7-9pm.

& praise God for the library! (:

slip and slide

praise report: i am so thankful for how things turned out today. so, while i was walking to the school of english, i was honestly feeling rather disheartened and almost positive that no one was going to show up for soccer (students/kccfers) because of the cold rainy weather. still, there was the slim chance ... and while i was humming a worship song which now escapes me and trying to fix my broken umbrella on the porch, a voice called out, "hey, is there soccer today?" 5 int'l guys in two cars had driven up looking to play some soccer in the rain. hurrah! arriving at city park, i spotted one person from kccf. he, as it turned out, was calling up the others and one by one, ppl from kccf arrived to join the 5 guys and i in a match of soccer. it was greeaaaattt ... slipping and sliding and just getting totally muddy and wet and not caring (that much at least). :D we had, at least, 15 ppl show up. some were spectators (kccfers), but most of the ppl played. all i can say is thank you, jesus, for bringing the people out today to spend some fun times together and for allowing the students to just talk and get to know some of the queen's students. and maybe next time, just maybe, we'll be able to share more with the students. but, for now ... companionship is good enough. the students, for sure, were glad to have had people to play with today.

sunny days!

hey all you wonderful pad-ers!
i must say this is a pretty snazzy blog! thanx eleasa!
first off, i must admit i'm a blog newby as well, so this is very exciting for me!
how was Bible study for everyone last nite? i know for me personally it was very eye-opening to do a "spiritual check up." perhaps we can discuss what we learned in Bible study when we meet up tomorrow? keep each other accountable to what we could change/improve on in our spiritual lives... just a thought! so is everyone still ok with meeting at Stooley's after church at 1:00? if so, i'll see you then!
anywho, hope you are all having a faaabulous saturday! it's so nice to see the SUN shining so brightly! such a contrast to the first SNOWFALL that happened yesterday... which was also so beautiful! oh how amazing is our God!
Ykathleen

good morning.

hi. i don't know if it's because of the slide(show) they promoted it with, but everytime "PAD group" is mentioned i'd get a visual in my head as well. anyway, i hope you're all holding up alright with midterms/assignments n other (personal) stuff or whatnot. know that you've all been in my prayers. take care n see you sunday.

ps cool we're starting to use the blog now!

Bible study tomorrow night

hey girls!

hope the studying &/or assignment-ing &/or reading is persisting well these days !
( i'm actually at stauffer right now. )

just came back from cell group leader pre-study
& as it's the night before the bible study,
i'd ask that (if you read this in time)
you please pray for me & for all the cgl's
as we prepare our minds & our hearts
to lead the study tomorrow.

the passage is colossians 1:1-23, with a focus on vs. 21-23.
if you have a chance, read over it so you go a bit more ready for diving into God's word !

goodnight girls !

much pad love,
me !

:)

hi everyone,

just wanted to give a big thank you to eleasa for starting up this blog site. what a fantastic idea. to be honest, i have NEVER blogged before ('coz i couldn't think of a good reason why i would need to) ... but what better way to keep in touch with each other than this? alright, before i sign off, are there any blogging etiquettes that i should be aware of? (i'm jokin' .. there is no such thing, right?) take care ladies. lookin' forward to seeing you around campus, but if not, see you on sunday :)

First PAD post!

First post! I hope we'll have fun with this blog. That way, if we don't meet up weekly, we can still keep each other updated on the little things that are going on in our busybusy lives. And the little things that God blesses us with that we'd like to share with one another. Bookmark this site & use it, girls. (:

So for this Sunday! (if you read this in time...)

Cathy's going to be meeting her international students at the School of English (96 Albert St., next to Vic Hall) for some frisbee from 2:00-3:30pm. We can meet as a PAD group there, & then go for coffee afterwards (at CoGro?), or meet on the frisbee-playing field (either in front of Kingston Hall or City Park), or just meet after 3:30pm. It could end before then too, so we could give you a call on your cell phones? Me, I have a Sunday School teachers meeting from 12:45-2pm, so I'm probably going to go to one of the fields to look for Cathy & her students after 2pm. I think Kathleen's coming to frisbee later too.

Tell us what the rest of you want to do! :)
